I will say this is my first local band I have bought a cd from. I LOVED IT!! The vocals and instruments went well together in all the songs. Some were kinda creepy with the voices but creepy in a good way. I do recommend this cd and if anyone buys it ENJOY!? :D

It's a wonder more people don't know about The Element.
Recently relocated to California from Brazil, Rafael Macedo has perhaps one of the best album releases of 2012. This progressive metal opus is filled with absolutely everything metal aficionados need to fulfill even the most scrutinizing tastes. All the instruments are mixed so amazingly well that never does any one instrument override another. Just the superb technical playing skills of each of the musicians in this band is enough to make you sit up and take notice.
Starting with the rhythm guitars you have crystal clear arpeggios to heavy hitting guitar riffs that will satisfy any headbanger. The drums are tight and follow the rhythm guitars closely with intricate fills and perfectly timed changes. And with industry veteran Mitch Stewart on the bass, the bass lines feel every bit a lead instrument as Macedo's guitars.
But no, this album isn't just about lead guitar and how fast can we play. What would a progressive metal band be without a talented keyboardist adding his own flair? Jeremy Villucci really brings it to this album. His ethereal ivories really add the emotional backdrop that permeates throughout this album. And when you mix in Macedo's uniquely melodic vocals and Stewart's tender harmonies, you can't help but be impressed!
Yes, I could pick apart this album song for song, but I'd really be repeating myself and would have a hard time finding new adjectives to describe just how unbelievably genius this magnum opus is. In fact, if there's one complaint I do have about the album, it's that it is far too short. Coming in at only 8 songs and a total running time of right around 45 minutes, the album whets your whistle, gets you hyped up, and then before you know it, it's over and you're left wanting more! But you'll have to wait for the next installment - From Sand Part 2.
My suggestion is to put this on endless repeat and don't stop it until Part 2 is released!
