From the high energy impact of the opening chords of ‘Pretty Good Friend’ to the bottom of a dumpster in the aptly named ‘Dumpster Diving’, this music delivers a genre bent collection of tunes. An eclectic mix of non-traditional instruments compliments the traditional rock instrumentation as this Tacoma, WA, based band travel between rock, reggae, punk, blistering bluegrass. Throw in tastes of Asian, Latin, and other travel influences throughout which lend to their own seasoned musical stew. Powered by their hometown blue collar roots, the songs tend to focus on mocking the things that seems to hold down the common person, suppress their fun, or just seem to have an amusing enchantment to their musings. This police force will have no problems getting your ass out of your seat and on to the rug where you shall begin cutting, or face the penalty of law.

Album Notes

The Fun Police hail from Tacoma, WA, a perennial hotbed of musicians that feed the Seattle scene with their finest --- Well, not this time. The Fun Police are Tacoma through and through, basing and staging their hi-jinks from the City of Destiny on the central Puget Sound. Formed in late 2008 from early local scene bands ‘The Xenophiles’ and ‘Helter Skipper and the Gilligan Mansons’, The Fun Police began blending genres like a Kitchen Aid on crack, pushing their punk rhythm unit to the edge with odd timing signatures and a zany sense to their lyrics and stage presence

Originally a busking-only band (playing no gigs, only on the street), the calls soon came for organized shows. After clubbing Tacoma/Bremerton/Seattle extensively, The Fun Police invested their gig pay into the recording of a full length CD, ‘You Better Run’, with producer Conrad Uno at Egg Studios in Seattle.

Their grassroots effort was well received regionally, and on various blogs throughout the internet. Continuing to tour, they expanded southward to Los Angeles, and eastward to Boise, before settling into Hourglass Studios in Bonney Lake, WA, with producer and sound engineer Dave Barfield at the helm. Spending a number of months in the studio has helped The Fun Police hone and define their trademark and original sound for the masses with the release of their second full length disc, "Clown Control".

No sophomoric slump

Nope, no sophomoric slump here, folks. The Fun Police have released another disc, and as a local fan I was there to support them. The Pacific Northwest has heard many of these songs live, before, but never with such definition and clarity. The Fun Police have put a gem of genre bending together here - each song sounds different, with loads of elements of music from different genres. Sometimes punk, sometimes rock, even some reggae, latin, and asian influences. You just can't go wrong with this disc if you like great music, and fun/funny lyrics.
