Album Notes
In the tradition of Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Bruce Springsteen comes a spiritually enriching and inspirational, musically eclectic, CD.
Offering tunes in genres as varied as reggae, folk rock, bluegrass, rap and rhumba(!) this auspicious debut will open your heart and inspire you to live a happier life and to want to assist those who are working to restore individual freedom and help make a better world.
Spirits In The Silence documents one man's evolution from pre-Occupy movement liberty activism against oppression and corruption from corporate and government influences to a spiritual path of equanimity, affirmative prayer and his discovery that "you can't change the world, you can only change how you see the world. But, when you change how you see the world... the world changes".
Lyrics to four of the 14 songs (13 originals and one cover version) best demonstrate the path which culminated in this work.

from my activism days in Los Angeles circa 2008 and it was just too good a song to leave off this CD and also because Jon Magnificent who plays everything but vocals and distorted harmonica is rising to stardom rapidly. Musically it rocks harder than anything else on the CD so it gives the CD a harder edge overall and demonstrates a different aspect to my musical repertoire.

If Big Brother is watchin me
he aint gonna like what he’s gonna see
If Big Brother is watchin now
we aint afraid anyhow

he thinks he’ll make slaves of you and me
but he doesnt know his history
he underestimates the human race
we’re gonna dance right on his face
he can tap our wires read our emails too
he can put GPS in our Fruit of the Looms
he can hear every single word that we speak
he’s just a crazy fuckin paranoid freak

we’re gonna make Big Brother fall
gonna prove he wasn’t so big at all
won’t it be one happy day
when we make Big Brother pay
for his crimes against humanity
and for hasslin you and me?
ain’t gonna study war no more
when we shake Big Brother down to the core

If Big Brother is listening
he might hear those bells of freedom ringin
If Big Brother wants to know
tell him that love and freedom is gonna grow
and peace and justice is gonna flow
with Big Brother out of the way
it’s gonna be one sunshiney day.

LEver9 RAP
OK, first the crazy title – if you look at the vertical lines in the capital letters LE and then the number 9 you get 119 or 911 backwards, also lever 9 sounds close to eleven 9, so this song is all about reverting things that have gone forward such as the roll back on civil liberties and encroachment of societal lunacy for 11 years now since the events of that day in Sept 2011 as well as things that were going on prior that we somehow didnt see. See, 911 did change everything – it started a global awakening to the insanity and corruption in high places in the corporate and government sectors.

thank you very much to John Bush for contributing his rap to the proceedings. great job John!

i want to clear the air
and ungunk the sea
i want to drink clean water
no more impurities
i want to love the land
and live in harmony
because this land
was made for you and me

i want to roam around
without showing ID
what good is sacred ground
under a tyranny?
no more frankenfood
lets bring Monsanto down
lets revoke their patents
on the plants and dirt in the ground

i just want a cabin underneath the sun
give me the simple life
and an old shotgun
i just want the right to just be me
when you get right to it
who else could i be?

i don’t want no gadgets
don’t want a plasma tv
i dont want my home full of stuff
bought from the enemy
i want to grow some crops
in the fertile soil
i dont want to be dependent
on anybody’s oil

maybe a little rum
and some vodka too
wanna drink a toast to freedom
for me and you
i wanna have a dream
i wanna find my way home
i want a country where the seeds
of enlightenment are sown

i just want a cabin underneath the rain
give me some shelter and love
and i wont complain
i just want someone to keep me company
under the beautiful skies
where we can all be free

RAP by John Bush

look how far we’ve come
in this brave new world
poison vaccines and psychiatric drugs
for every boy and girl

i just want a cabin underneath the rain
give me some shelter and love
and i wont complain
i just want someone to keep me company
under the beautiful skies
where we can all be free

Steppin Into Paradise documents a fellow going through serious transformation. At the time I was very much on my spiritual path and focused on the peace love and joy attainable by living in the moment but also I went through a period of some degree of obsession with something very non sequitar.

At the time i was obsessed +/- with the stunt that the Beatles pulled in the 1966-1970 period where their album covers and lyrics were loaded with clues that Paul McCartney had died. What does it mean that “we all buried Paul”? Not sure lol It has something to do with that we buried a lot of the innocence and rebellious spirit that characterized the second half of the 1960s. But the song is really about death and rebirth. So its something in that realm. When you receive my CD you will see that the back cover art has some elements of satire of that whole "Paul Is Dead" theme

been fightin the man
with all of my might
to preserve liberty
and do what i thought was right
the man’s still there
perhaps he needs to be
peace love and joy
is my new philosophy

steppin into paradise
shedding my skin
steppin into paradise
where i’ve always been

slipped out of the circus tent
foresaking the show
got no deadlines no pressure
i just let it all go
peace is always at hand
thats what i believe
if you want to go free
just learn how to breathe

steppin into paradise
shedding my skin
steppin into paradise
where i’ve always been

i’m writing this song
on a rock by the creek
like a fish like a frog
like a boat with a leak
i’m sinkin on down
let life swallow me whole
and spit me on out
with my new ageless soul

steppin into paradise
shedding my skin
steppin into paradise
where i’ve always been

when night time shall come
so inevitably
please dont shed no saltwater
dont feel sorry for me
life is but a dream
that makes fools of us all
love is forever
we all buried Paul
i’d like to stay longer
but i can hear the angels call

steppin into paradise
shedding my skin
steppin into paradise
where i’ve always been

steppin into paradise
with the owl and the swan
steppin into paradise
the dream lives on

steppin into paradise
into the zone
steppin into paradise
the wolf’s callin me home

was reading a book at the time titled The Supreme Yoga and this was the main thing that I got out of it. I think I manage to share what I learned while making some enjoyable music and not being preachy. I have had some friends and strangers tell me that the song really resonated with them and helped them.

walkin around like you’re in a dream

you know nothing is real

so why make a big deal?

all is in unity
despite all appearant diversities
got no space or time
everything is divine

don’t get too high or too low
just sit back and enjoy the show
from the outside view
everything is just a part of you

so you want to live in bliss?
realize that you are all of this
be above it all
and you can never fall

it’s an 80 year dream
you can change everything
learn how to just be
and you set yourself free

when a stranger comes passin by
feel free to look them in the eye
and move on through
and be them looking back at you

injustice sorrow and pain
will dissolve just like the rain
when you give up the fight
and step into the light
of equanimity
everything is alright
the universe is always shinin bright
you can’t hold back the night
you can’t darken the light
of equanimity
