Album Notes

THE GITS second studio album. It was completed just before the murder of singer, Mia Zapata. Enter: The Conquering Chicken is one of the most influential underground rock albums of the time. It has inspired artists like Joan Jett and Indigo Girls and Pearl Jam, Sleater Kinney, Le Tigre, Rancid and The Pinkos.

This album is a fresh release of The Git's second full length release. Singer Mia Zapata was murdered during the original mixing. This edition is remixed by famed (Nirvana) producer Jack Endino and re-mastered by John Golden. This is a passionate, melodic album featuring a great punk band cut down in their prime.

The Gits formed in 1986 in Yellow Springs Ohio and blossomed in Seattle until 1993. Mia Zapata was murdered in July of 1993. The killer was caught after a ten year man-hunt and is on trial in Seattle at the time of writing this bio.

Rare CD in that you never have to hit "Next."

This CD is great, but I like this one especially for the live tracks at the end. I can tell that if I had first heard them at the X-Ray Cafe opening with "Sign of the Crab" I would have been an instant fan (like I was when I saw them on "Hype" nearly 10 years ago). This CD has a great sound instrumentally and vocally. The lyrics are also of extremely high quality. I also want to point out that I am not a fan just because of the singer's death. In fact, the only song that is effected by that at all for me is "A Change is Gonna Come" because it was played at the trial, so I can't help but get a little emotional hearing, "...Momma, Momma I am down on my knees...".

Hard to believe that it takes a documentry about Mias death to push this band to the forefront of modern cult bands no doubt after the two albums i have heard Mia Zappata will live on with the likes of Jimi Hendrix Ian Curtis and even Bob Marley for her lyrics and her unique voice she makes your hair stand on end.BRILLIANT.
