Album Notes

THE GITS- Frenching the Bully is the first full length studio album put out by The Gits. It was first released in 1992 and followed by months of touring. It was received famously in music press on both sides of the Atlantic and had the music industry buzzing about this "new" Seattle upstart punk band.
This album is raw, intense, angry, tender and passionate.
It has been out of print since 1994 and after a ten year fight with the record label that put it out, The Gits have reclaimed rights to the album and their murdered singer, Mia Zapata's musical legacy. The album has been remixed and re-mastered by producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Therapy?, Mudhoney, Supersuckers, Blue Cheer etc.) and 10 bonus live tracks have been added.
This was the album that started it all. Viva Zapata!

This CD has the song that got me into the band, "Second Skin." Such a good song, and there are others. There are uplifting songs (Second Skin, While You're Twisting I'm Still Breathing, etc.), and there are other pissed the fuck off songs (Spear and Magic Helmet, Here's to Your Fuck [Shove it up your ass, I hope you choke on his cock!]). I really love "While You're Twisting, I'm Still Breathing" too. And Absynthe. And really the whole CD. Like I said above, do yourself a favor and buy the thing!

This CD showcases punk at its best, while at the same time being very catchy (in the best way possible, the songs just don't leave your head, in my case probably, and hopefully, forever. It's punk, which I love, but is blues-influenced and possesses a soul of its own. One of the most memorable CDs I've ever heard, and the most unjustly underrated CD of all times, in my opinion. The remixed version is simply great!

I've listened to punk and hardcore music since the eighties and I never heard of this band until recently. In short, this is a GREAT album - start to finish. Fast but melodic, the sound doesn't get boring quickly. I can't believe that I've never heard this band before.

This is the most complete collection of their best music. The music is captivating and the lyrics are enough to wake up your mind. The quality of all the songs is incredible, especially the live recordings. I can't stop listening to it. ☼
