Album Notes

The United Shakes of America was Ranked number 79 on WOXY 97X (woxy.com) Top Records of 2003

Want/Got was #1 on WOXY 97X People's Choice Countdown

"The Great Shakes (The United Shakes of America) exploded out of my stereo speakers with some of the sharpest and most vicious trash and punk rock I've heard from a young band in a long time."
Delusions of Adequacy (adequacy.net)

"Unlike so many post-postmodern ponies, The Great Shakes have far more than one trick: Each sneer is followed with a knowing wink, every wrist-slashing riff salved with a coolly bracing vocal turn. In short, the perfect soundtrack to those home movies of the sons and daughters of Iggy and Bowie doing the nasty on the White House lawn." - David Sprague (Village Voice, Trouser Press Guide to 90's Rock - co-editor)

Their debut EP is a five-song kick in the balls that explodes with attitude, crunchy guitars, and the confident/cocky lead vocals of band mouthpiece, Darren"

YOU CAN SNARL AND STILL KEEP YER SMILE

Full of head bobbin riffs, snarly but happy fret noodling, vocals you can hear and appreciate in both whispers and shriekin' and all of it's tuneful and on fire. You've got the water bucket but you'd rather watch it burn. Five truly sincere hard working, well crafted power rock tunes. Everybody gets their groove on. Hot diggity - can't wait til a full on album from these hotties.
