ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Recent review from Uforia Entertainment, June 14th, 2013

" "The 2013 debut album entitled "The Grey Agenda" from Jimmy Hinchcliff, one of the best guitar players and songwriters to come out of Upstate New York. A+++ production that encompasses beautiful acoustic layers & driving rock guitars that moves your mind. Hinchcliff has truly combined the influences of the musical masters and delivered something that is unique, completely original and resonates like Hendrix dining with David Gilmore and Jimmy Page. Very cool indeed."

Producer, guitarist and songwriter Jimmy Hinchcliff has released a new album through CD Baby entitled ” The Grey Agenda ” that has been receiving alot of positive reviews not just locally.. but globally from Seattle to Portugal. This debut album from Jimmy features 12 tracks, each of which are diverse and span the genres of rock, blues and acoustic.

Five of the albums tracks are co-produced and mixed by accomplished New York City bassist, producer & pro audio engineer Gustavo Garces whose discography is filled with the names of numerous multi-platinum artists.
The same five tracks also feature Long Island Music Hall of Fame drummer John DiGulio....whose drumming is ferocious on Absense of Sense & Greedman, and rock solid on New Day and Father Forgiven. Jimmy is quoted as saying " John is an absolute professional in the studio..and his technique I would qualify as impeccable. He played an integral part in the tracking of those 5 songs and they wouldn't of turned out so kick ass without him. The man is a monster behind the kit and I would love to work with him again in the future. "

John's website can be found at this link:

After graduating from The Institute of Audio Research, Jimmy began his career as a studio technician for Sony Music Studios & Manhattan Center Studios (The Hammerstein Ballroom) in New York City working for the likes of Timbaland, Missy Elliot, David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz, Iron Maiden, Filter, Shakira, Iron Maiden and Mickey Hart to name a few. He then moved onto The Palace Theatre in Albany where he was production manager for artists such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Tori Amos, Gov’t Mule, Tony Bennett and BB King, all the while writing, recording and producing his own original music. Hinchcliff already has another 12 tracks recorded, mixed & ready for a sophomore follow up album to be released early in 2014 and he recently performed at The 5th Annual Festival of The Dead, donating his time & contributing to a good cause which benefits the Albany Medical Centers Family Trauma Fund. BUY THIS CD !
Buy this album! You won't be disappointed. In this day and age of the big corporations looking for the "next big thing", a lot of good acts and artists go relatively unnoticed in the rush to produce a canned product that fits narrow parameters. If you take the time and effort to sift through the independent offerings that are out there, you can find some seriously good music. This album is one of them. If you are a fan of good, solid, straightforward rock and roll. Look no further. The opening track, "Absense of Sense", is a tour de force showcase of the artist's talents. Strains of Voodoo Chile, tip the artist's hand as to the influences that helped him shape the sounds for this album. As the song rushes breathlessly along, loaded with tasty hooks and smart phrasing, you the listener should strap yourself in for the ride Jimmy Hinchliff is about to bring you on. The album is an intelligent mix of songs that cover the spectrum from smoking rockers to chilled down ballads. Thoughtful lyrics abound, and again, I stress, the guitar playing really shines. Whether it's the bluesy romp of "Big City Blues", or a the tip of the hat to pre-nineties pre-Grunge ideals that acknowledges that the guitar player should actually play the guitar and showcase his abilities. In "Path of the Master's", you'll find a smoking instrumental that is tastefully done, and not a self-indulgent wankfest that some solos can become. When it's time to slow things down on this record, Jimmy does it with style and panache, and the tone he gets with the acoustic guitars is reminiscent of that tasty sound Joe Bonamassa wrings out of his acoustics.Jimmy does a great job on this album of crafting the songs that showcase his abilities as a musician. Echoes of the music that influenced him abound. The love of music is evident everywhere in these offerings as you can tell a lifetime spent of playing music of the masters, and the lessons they've given, have been observed, internalized, and brought forth as something uniquely Jimmy Hinchliff. Buy this album. You won't be disappointed!
