“Letters”
“Letters “ is an an emotionally stirring tribute to the lives of the soldiers, sailors, airmen , and Marines of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as well as to all of our American Veterans. For the soldiers away from home and for the families and loved ones of those deployed, a letter is a lifeline. A sacred highway home, and a tenuous thread holding hearts together.
The show features excerpts from letters to and from military personnel in the field of service in the Iraq/Afghanistan/Gulf war era, along with video and pictures projected onto the stage. Every letter is read by a narrator onto a dark stage until the spotlight comes up on one of the performers doing a song selected specifically for that letter.As the song ends the spot fades and another letter begins from the narrator. The cast is never introduced until the end of the show. Thus the opening lines of the narrator “Tonight we are only voices”
The cast of “Letters” is a formidable group of some very talented and stirring performers. Their individual credits range from Symphony appearances to The Montreaux Jazz Festival and stage appearances with artists such as Blake Shelton, Firefall, Gov’t Mule, etc...
The purpose behind the “Letters” show is to raise awareness with in communities to the lives of soldiers and the plight of the returning Veterans. To provide aid, instruction, and resources through SoldierSongs, providing Veterans with a safe means of expression and enjoyment and enhancing their lives and communities through music.
