Loyd Vandergriff, better known as “The Human” to his friends and fans, has just released his first new CD of all original material in over 3 years entitled “Last Train Out.” This is The Human’s 4th release and picks up where he left off before, combining blues rock, southern rock, and classic rock to give you what is now being called by his fans…Human Rock. The Human’s style and lyrics have slowly begun to attract a lot of attention. It is not uncommon to see people smiling when they listen to his music. His songs tell stories people can easily relate too. Critics have said his lyrics paint a visual picture on canvas of what is going on in the song. Some are fun, some deep and thought provoking. Most just make you smile and make you want to pat your feet and pop a cold one. The new CD starts off with “Friday Thang,” a smoking rocker that tells what Fridays used to be like for the Human, starting in his college days and moving on well into the future. “River Rock” has a Cajun, zydeco feel to it with a smoking accordion and fiddle. Infectious? Yeah. Party on the river is on! “Requiem for Washington” is a slow blues tune with The Human supplying a scalding indictment of the current political mess in Washington. “Juke Joint Showdown,” is a rocker that almost cannot be contained. The studio about came unglued laying this track. A southern rocker from start to finish, that will have you moving and grooving. “Running From the Shotgun,” is a folk type rocker. It was also on Best of the Human Project, but Loyd wanted to re-do it, so here it is. Billy, he is young and got sucked in by hormones and heat of opposite sex, and when the time came, he just could not go through with it. “Right Wing Billy,” takes a shot at the extreme right of the political spectrum. It is by no means a criticism of solid, middle of the road conservatism. The CD closes with “Vicodin Blues,” a slow groove of a tune about addiction. It harkens back to the day of FM radio and the long cut.
