Album Notes

In the late 80's punk music was still dangerous, and hard-core mode, but the 90's were about to bring some major changes; soon a new generation of punk acts would be signed, polished for the top 10, and available for consumption at your local Kmart. In the roll call some great bands were left behind, with a handful of cherish memories and recordings that could not see the light of day. The insaints is one of those bands.

Formed by Marian Anderson (vocals) and Daniel deLeon (guitar) and hailing from Modesto, CA, they relocated to the San Francisco growing punk scene in 1990 and quickly made their mark. Their heroes were the Stooges, the Avengers, 45 Grave, Black Flag, Misfits, Plasmatics and Blondie. The Insaints lived the hard life of the street and believed in true punk values; the often faced racism, bigotry, hatred, they wrote about those experiences. Their style combined harsh sound with harsh lyrics. Their live shows were legendary, thanks to Marian's lewd and outrageous performances. They played the clubs in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and countless house partys. They shared bills with Rancid, Green Day, Offspring, and G.G. Allin. The fans came in droves to support and some religious non fans protested their shows! In 1993 they released their only official release, a double-7" with Diesel Queens on the Maximum Rock and Roll label. After being arrested at the famous underground punk rock club, Gilman St, there was endless court battles over their sexual stage antics, that would eventually had the best of them. They called it quits in 1994, leaving behind a handful of studio and live recordings, -- compiled here for your listening pleasure--, and the LEGEND OF MARIAN ANDERSON, maybe the most extreme and outrageous punk artist of all times.
