Album Notes

Like the Japanese out of the West, The Stooges from Detroit, or NWA Straight Outta Compton, The Ivorys, Chicago have burst forth onto music’s now barren landscape. Fresh as your laundry and dirty as Chamillionaire’s preferred style of transportation, The Ivorys put a new spin on what all real Americans; and all of humanity for that matter; love: rock ‘n’ roll. And this is what makes them so irresistible.

The Ivorys proclaimed their existence in the spring of 2003 as freshmen in high school. Brendan Peleo- Lazar (Drums) has known Sam White (Vox/Bass) all of his life and one day the light bulb sparked, they figured they should form a band because they all played instruments! During their freshmen year, Brendan met Rob Thomas (Vox/Guitar) at St. Ignatius College Prep. The three convened in Brendan’s basement (where they still practice to this day) in sunny Lincoln Park, where magic happened. Soon enough, the gigs appeared, the songs were in top form, The Ivorys were well on their way.

Instantly recognizable, yet at once unfamiliar, these three teenagers (teenagers, can you believe it?) have managed to orchestrate a sound in constant dialogue with the past present, and future. Under strict rule from Ira Antelis (head of music at Leo Burnett Agency), The Ivorys have developed a sound of their own. No easy task. But they wouldn’t want it any other way. It took four years of intense basement practice and open-mic initiations to turn Brendan, Rob and Sam into The Ivorys, and there’s no turning back now. Now the band is playing shows at predominate venues such as The House of Blues, Double Door, The Beat Kitchen, Subterranean, The Note, The Empty Bottle, The Rave (Milwaukee), Lager House (Detroit), and The Beachland Ballroom in Ohio among others. There is no doubt that these four lads from Chicago are gaining notoriety and a steady fan base throughout the Chicago land area. Please review our newly created music video that we did in 2007 with our director Chris Thompson to get an idea of how we are live for our song, “Can’t Stop” in the included dvd inside the CD cover We have also had our song “Can’t Stop” played several times on WXRT in Chicago as well as having our entire CD played on FOX news in the morning. The Ivorys look good on paper too! The band has also been featured in the Chicago Redeye newspaper as an up and coming young band from Chicago. So if you’re looking for wild beats, blaring guitars, catchy lyrics, and songs void of pretension, come see The Ivorys before they bring the revolution elsewhere. You’ve been warned.
