Most Excellent

I deny them five stars only because, this album has too few songs on it. Otherwise it is outstanding. I also wish I could find a website for these guys and that they produced more works. But alas Jeff Garber tends to be the most rabbit like musician, hopping in and out of his bands. I think Joy Circuit should be the final resting place for these guys. I love Tim Dow and Jeff working together, these two stemmed from two of my favorite bands, Shiner and Castor!! Never got into Cupcakes, but going to check them out now...So anyway I wish there was more from these guys.

fairly brilliant

While Ken Andrew's post-Failure songwriting abilities seem to be fading, Jeff Garber continues to blossom as a frontman, surpassing his work with both Castor and National Skyline. "EP1" is evidence that Year of the Rabbit was not soley built on the genius of Ken Andrews, and instead showcases the rest of the band's talent, while continuing the dark, atmospheric rock of their previous efforts (Year of the Rabbit, National Skyline, Shiner, etc.)

beautiful new wave rock drone ep
author: TDK
this is a fantastic ep of atmospheric and melodic songs. you can hear the influence of Radiohead, Peter Murphy, Psychedelic Furs, Stone Roses, etc. yet the songs retain their own unique style and sound. more sparse and less metal than YTR. it would be interesting to hear a more focused full album effort with a hit single thrown in. "Secret Fires" comes close - buy this one!
