Music for dancings: horas, freylachs, waltzes.
Music born from Jewish life in the Middle East, Europe, and America: a mystical meal at the rebbe's table; morning rehearsals in a Silicon Valley garage; a bridal procession; even a wild night in the Garden of Eden. Be it a "hot" dance or a reflection on that final glass of wine, it's all klezmer music.
Klezmer--in which each instrument can express its soul and voice. We hear that voice echo from the Yiddish theater, in a song of young love and the tale of an old gypsy fiddler. We play and sing from our hearts to create a joyful sound that echoes the Old World and makes today's audiences get up and dance – at parties, weddings, synagogues, festivals, and other events.
We're an eight-piece Klezmer band from the San Francisco bay area. Our repertoire encompasses Eastern European dances, Yiddish theater tunes, and a few original tunes as well.
The sound is full and rich: a melodic ensemble of clarinet, violin, flute/piccolo, and accordion – backed by a solid rhythm section of guitar, keyboard, bass/cello, and drums. And our vocalist packs quite a punch! Together, we create a joyous and heartfelt sound that echoes the Old World, while still making today's audiences get up and dance.
