Album Notes

Known as the Tex-Mex Beatles, The Krayolas, have rocketed to national attention with songs like "Corrido - 12 Heads in a Bag."

After releasing "La Conquistadora" last year, national pundits agree that The Krayolas are set to break even bigger with their new CD "Long Leaf Pine."

As the center of the release is "Corrido Twelve Heads in a Bag."

It's a post -modern corrido (a Mexican -style narrative song) which sums up the convulsive state of America's borderlands as drug lords take the upper hand in the "War on Drugs."

Other Tunes take listeners everywhere from a drive on San Antonio's "wild side" with "chola girl" to the legends surrounding New Orleans voodoo queen Marie Laveau.

Here's just a few comments from what the national critics are already saying:

"This one's something special. ('Corrido Twelve Heads in a Bag') is a story that needs to be told. Hector Saldana is emerging as an important songwriter." -- Dave Marsh, Sirius XM, "Kick Out The jams!"

"As hip as anything you'll find on Pitchfork." Jeff McCord, Texas Monthly

"The year's boldest independent release." -- John Aiello, The Electric Review

"The Krayolas and the West Side Horns rock. A total happening." Michael Corcoran, Austin-American Statesman.

"Shocking and brilliant." -- Neda Ulaby, National Public Radio.
