Album Notes

About the album: This release compiles everything recorded by The Leonards during their first four years of existence, including their debut (out of print) EP.

Blah blah blah…

Originally from Detroit, this foursome migrated to Los Angeles and proceeded to carry on the tradition of a mid-western, hard-working rock band. Talk to these four guys and you'll discover the simple truth: They love to make music. Their songs combine influences spanning the history of rock 'n' roll, from sixties garage-rock through seventies proto-punk and onward, with a freshness all their own. The result is a sound with a timeless appeal - music you can't help but like.

The Leonards are rock and roll, which brings us back to the Michigan thing. There must be something diesel in the air or polluted in the water because bands from their neck of the woods play with a certain panache that reminds you that the Stooges and MC5 were playing punk way before 1976. The Leonards image is more of an anti-image, they just want to rock!

In 80's vernacular "Awesome"..very jangly & timeless. Great Lyrics. Great Tunes. No posers here. +1 what Arvo said: "the way rock n roll is supposed to be. 3 chords played with passion". If you remember cool bands on warm vinyl, this is for you. However, if you're one of those poindexters who has every triple mocha latte stop w/in 50 miles programmed in your GPS you'll probably be happier completing your Britney collection. Holy Shades of Power Poptopia Batman, BUY this Album! 1LD

As though they've risen again on the third day or new millenia, The Leonards prove that there is an "after-life" even when it's a "before-life"! These early-career songs highlight the ever-changing jangle of hip-rock, hook-laden, lyric-solid rock n' roll that make any band scream "check this shit out!!!" Always full of energy, these lads know that a good tune involves equal parts guitar, drums, words, bass and tequila...the "el coyote margherita" of rock...how can you dispute what throngs of lonely, mid-western, college girls claim as their favorite you-know-what music??? Amen, Leonards, Amen...
