The Mack
“Jeff Shelton, the singer-songwriter-guitarist whose idiosyncratic voice gives us a morality debate about lifting jewelry and sympathy for a hired hand… retaining the high brain function of ’60s contemporaries like the post-bubblegum Beatles. Here there is wit, tragedy, love, disdain, inquisition and plain old high-order storytelling.” By Stephen George Louisville Eccentric Observer
Jeff Shelton is a Louisville, KY musician and is the songwriter for The Mack. Shelton has recently finished his latest CD on Birdsnest Records, Lazy Bones.
Jeff Shelton began playing music by sneaking out of his parent’s basement to play open mics. Shelton arrived in Louisville in the early 90’s, leaving his home in eastern KY to pursue music. He was shortly followed by his brother and another fellow musician. Together they formed The Party Girls and played regularly in the local music scene.
Shelton made his first solo venture contributing a song on the Louisville is For Lovers 2001 compilation. Shelton eventually called his music The Mack which is homage to his father and grandfather, Ronnie Mack and Foster Mack.
In addition to playing regular shows in the Louisville, the Mack continues to broaden the geography of his performances, touring the northeast, southeast and south.
