Themasses' music is a blend of infectious beats and unique progressions without formulas or rules. It is created with the live performance in mind, where the crowd is the show and the dance floor is the stage. In their continuing mission to put some party DJ's out of work, they create instrumental house music with the dynamics and energy that could only come from a LIVE four piece band. Elements of funk and jazz are also experimented with, resulting in an upbeat, unpredictable, original sound that has been packing dance floors consistently for more than three years.

Formed in 2002 beneath the dramatic landscape of Vancouver BC, Themasses have developed a large, loyal following which gets bigger and bigger with each live show. They have headlined over 120 shows including three appearances at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, three intensive tours of Western Canada and a 25-show cross-Canada tour where they left a trail of pumped audiences and worn-out dancing shoes.

Their demo/EP release, 'The Pile', has gone into its third printing and their brand new ground breaking album, 'Drift Thing', was just released in April 2006. Produced by Ben Kaplan, (Blue Quarter, Burt Neilson Band, Freeflow) 'Drift Thing' is unlike anything you've heard before and features incredible guest appearances by break-out vocalist Sherry St. Germain and Chapman Stick master, Olivier Legace. Drift Thing is a groundbreaking exploration of sonic grooves and upbeat, organic electronica guaranteed to captivate the listener and shake the booty.
