Album Notes

"The Melodious" who would choose a name like that? I have to admit now that it seems a bit braggy, but it did not cross my mind when I chose it. Have you ever heard the old hymn "Sweet By and By"...the melodious songs of the blest...? I love the word melodious; it makes me think of an overload of fruit on a vine.

As you can tell from the cover, we started out as a father/son duo, but with the idea we would have a band down the road.

Can anyone be melodious? I certainly see that God's intention for all of us is to fit perfectly into His orchestra.

If you liked Keith Green, 2nd Chapter of Acts and Sweet Comfort Band who influenced me back in my teen years, there's a good chance you will like our style.

I grew up learning hymns, but have grown to appreciate many styles of music from classical to alternative. However, I find that I express myself best with a middle of the road pop/rock and sometimes jazzy style with an uncomplicated piano part leaving the creative genius to the other musicians.

It amazes me how my dream to create a music CD suddenly doesn't seem like such a big deal any more. The deal is now to learn creative ways to sell it so that I can do it again. If I keep writing and recording, maybe someday I'll say something that strike a melodious chord with people and I can do what I dream of. You know like standing in front of a lot of screaming fans, singing songs from my heart and reaching as many as I can with simple truth.

-Mike
