THE MEN is a MOD outfit from Lund, Sweden, and something of a small “supergroup” since they formed out of four already established Swedish garage bands, The Sinners, The Girls, Thee Expression and Colubrids. They got together a few years ago to form the ultimate live-band; explosive, stylish, tight, groovy, cool and fun (No shoegazers!) – a band the members themselves would love to see.

For their first album THE MEN picked their songs from the same sources The Stones, The Who, The Action and The Small Faces did when they started. Simple, gutsy and groovy black R&B and soul, delivered in a white guitar group-style with high three-part harmony vocals, á la spring 1965 in London. This album was recorded quickly in a two-day session and released in Sweden by Border Music in 2002 and by Pure Pop Records in Australia 2003. Fans as well as critics both home and abroad overwhelmingly received the album. The record received great reviews in Rolling Stone and Scootering to name a few. THE MEN were rapidly becoming one of the most interesting up and coming acts on the Swedish music scene.

However, requests kept coming in from all over the world for THE MEN to write their own songs for their follow-up album THE MEN RETURN. So that’s just what they did! Twelve brand new smash hits were lovingly written, then instantly recorded by special invitation from producer Christoffer Lundquist (Roxette, Gessle, Moneybrother, Brainpool) at AGM Studios. The result was simply breathtaking and producer Christoffer Lundquist considers the record THE MEN RETURN to be “a future classic”.

Since the album was recorded in an old fashioned way, in straight live takes of performances and harmony vocals, the joyful and energetic sound is easy for the group to recreate on stage. Mod music at its best; simple, honest and melodic songs with guts and love.

As soon as Torgny Sjöö, MD of Playground Music Scandinavia, heard the tracks he immediately signed a deal with THE MEN RECORDS.

On the 23rd of May 2006 the first single “If I Can’t Have You” was released worldwide on iTunes. The fabulous new LP is due out later in the autumn - THE MEN RETURN!

Great second album from my favourite Swedes!
The Men Return - Literally!! The second album - entirely written by The Men - is a rocker!! The mod sound lives!! The Men have captured the 60's like..... a genuine 60's band! Can't wait for the 3rd album!

done it again
The Men have made another great record. It really catches the sound of the sixties. And it is a joyful experience to listen to this music.

At first listen, it's the second, too
I got it 2 weeks ago, I already listened it more than 30 times. It's been a long time since I have a block about a record... I can't remember, maybe it was with the Original Sin. Just kidding. It's so good.

Wow! What a great find. 1965 Who, Kinks, Small Faces & Yardbirds! This thing rocked my socks off. Cool recording too. Catchy as anything you're going to find! I can't keep it out of my player...and don't want to.
