Awake Now

by The Midnight Pine

The Midnight Pine is the soundtrack to a solitary moonlit drive in open desert. Shelbi Bennett's siren vocal is hypnotic, dynamic and beautiful. Backed by the Heavy Guilt's morose folk psychedelia, this debut is a tremendous effort of serene nonchalance.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Midnight Pine was born with a random and surprise swiftness. Singer Shelbi Bennett was shopping at a record store and started a conversation with Alfred Howard (of the Heavy Guilt and the Black Sands). The basic ground covered in that nascent dialogue was that she was a singer and he was a song writer. The two decided to make a go at collaboration and that rare magic was instantly acknowledged. Within two weeks there were 13 songs. Within two months there was an album. Shelbi has a rare gift, an angelic voice with depth and range. It is from another time, yet distinctly current. Joined on the album by members of the Heavy Guilt, the Black Sands and Old Tiger, the Midnight Pine has arrived.
