Album Notes

..In a city overrun by hip hop artists and celebrity DJ's, these guys take us back to a time when catchy, melodic, rock songs meant something..
-Neal Travis "The New Music Express"

..Someone forgot to tell these guys that meaningful, edgy, Beatlesesque songs are no longer in vogue...and I for one am glad they forgot!!
-Devain Jonnies "The Sentinel"

..I would personally like to thank Jono for bringing back the long forgotten "cool intro" and for helping me revive my simultaneous steering/air guitar skills..
-Rick Townes "New York Press"

I knew this would happen.....

..I knew this was gonna happen..what with all the crap that passes for music these days. Anyway, I guess I'm happy for the "guys"..yeah, they play a bit down here in the east village and what can I say, i'm a huge fan. I hope they do well, but I don't want them to boogie. I love seeing them in the small venues, even if it's on an off night..which quite honestly, they have..I've seen these cats 4 times and 2 of them were great, 1 was insane(i think the audience is still standing in front of the stage) and the other was less than inspiring(jono, please visit the bar after the show, not before..lol)..anyway, this first album really captures their raw, catchy, melodic sound. I mean, each song draws from their influences earlier material, not the later crap that unfortunately some of these legends spew..so imagine if Aerosmith was still doing toys in the attic type stuff..or REM from the early days..and more importantly to me, the songs connect..each track tells a story. "Miss Lizzie", what's that about the oldest profession.."She Knows", the pain of child abuse is palpable.."Where we go from here", take that you bogus religious con men..and my fav. "Never fade away"..what a great f'in song. Anyway, I'm tired and have nothing more to add..for those that are awaiting the disc, you're in for a pleasant surprise.... ciao....

..there I am enjoying a latte at my local chill haunt and I hear this catchy beatlesesque song in the background that my boy Jarman, DJ extrodinaire, has been spinning heavy these days. Anyway, I gulp down the rest of my latte and storm up to the booth and walla.."The Modes" album..damn, there's some catchy shit on this drop..good job guys!! "Ah, Miss Lizzie"

Wow..

I complain to my friends all the time that there's something missing in today's prefabricated corporate sound. I mean there are a lot of talented performers, but usually their songs are just so so..I miss the bands from like the 70's, the ones we used to hear all the time..you know, great intro's, catchy riffs, memorable chorus's, and meaningful lyrics..Well, one of my friends Rebby(my girl Rebecca) turned me on to these guys from the East Village and their new CD. Wow, is all I can say..I find myself playing it over and over..can't wait to go see them..love that Miss Lizzie....these guys rock..
