ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
LOVE WILL BRING A SUNSHINE DAY is the first CD release by Glasgow based group THE MOKOS and they’re very happy to be offering it to you on CD Baby. In fact, they’re excited and hope you’ll have a listen to the sample tracks on the left.

At the heart of The Mokos music is the songwriting talent of lead singer and acoustic guitarist Alex MacLean. He started out in his late teens playing folk standards in the clubs and bars of Edinburgh, but was soon drawing on influences such as Lennon and McCartney, Dylan, John Martyn, Paul Simon and others to develop a self-penned repertoire. Mokos guitarist and all-rounder, Allan McGroarty, takes his inspiration from early rock n roll and blues music and he brings an edge and signature guitar sound to Alex’s songs. Another feature of The Mokos sound is the vocal harmonies and in these the influence of The Beatles, Everly Brothers and Mamas and Papas can be heard. Lachlan Bell’s solid, warm, melodic bass playing underpins the 12 original songs on this album.

What people say about The Mokos:

“Haunting harmonies, chunky chords, lively percussion accompaniment from a Glasgow outfit reminiscent of Love, James Taylor, Santana and Jefferson Airplane at their best with vocals ranging from Roy Orbison to Belle and Sebastian. Mature, subtle, romantic, heart warming, bitter-sweet, evocative of sunset drives over Golden Gate Bridge or through the Cairngorms in high summer! Musical gold ... a must for the iPod and the summer suitcase.” M Smith, Swansea

Love Will Bring a Sunshine Day was recorded at The Practice Pad Recording Studios in Glasgow by DP Johnson and SAG. Additional musicians: Iain Murray (drums and percussion), SAG (piano and Hammond organ), Clare Stout and the UK Theatre School Choir (backing vocals on A New Way).

A message from The Mokos:

“We hope that people will enjoy listening to our CD and that they’ll feel free to contact us via our website. For us, playing music is about connecting with an audience and it’s great to hear what people think.”

This is just beautiful og talented music. I dont know anything about techniques but my ears are okay. Melodic and feel good music it is, and then it's got THE edge that brings it far away from boring. (4 stars is because I belive there is more where it comes from, and I need an extra for the next cd ;)

Sleek, chilled, life-enhancing...
Very happy with the CD, delivery, packaging etc. I'm a big fan of the Mokos and know Allan personally. The CD is great - right through - and they deserve to get some exposure on the back of this CD. Undeniably this is music for late twenties-thirty somethings, it's unashamedly sleek and chilled...a stress buster!
