REVIEWS

Wonderful Jewish Folk Music
author: Les Blatt
This has been a favorite since it was first released, back in 1959. Bikel sings Yiddish with fervor and with an actor's ability to bring out the meaning in the songs, even for those of us who do not speak Yiddish. I do wish the CD came with the lyrics (as the original did), but that's a minor carp. It's a terrific album.

TERIFFIC!
author: Judi MacPherson
I owned the record version of this album many years ago, soon after it came out. I wore it out, but since the advent of tapes and cd's I haven't been able to play it again until now. I love this album! I love the songs, I love the singer. I love that it arrived so quickly after placing my order.

It's terrific CD and a great intoduction to Yiddish folk songs.
author: Peter Yamin
I still have the Elektra LP version of this, which I bought almost 50 years ago. It introduced me to Yiddish folk songs. Bikel is a wondeful performer and he sings with great affection for this music. My only complaint: the LP included a booklet of texts and translations (I've lost mine.)that should have been included with the CD.
