Album Notes

Theodore is, at present, Justin Kinkel-Schuster, Jason Torbitzky, JJ Hamon, and Andy Lashier. We're based in St. Louis, Missouri. We play some quiet songs with a certain measure of reserve, although we all like to be loud every now and then. The most casually applicable labels for our music are probably folk or rock or country but it's all just American music. In 2007, we made and released an album called Songs for the Weary. It took us a little while to finish and we are proud of the result. We just recorded another album called "Defeated, TN" that will come out in mid 2008. We play songs that are driven by years of ripe Southern and Midwestern desolation and oldfashionedness, and that are firmly grounded in the ultimate fallibility and infinite hope of people, and that are, in the case of Defeated, TN, based on old correspondence found in an abandoned home. We love the small ephemeral goods, evils, joys, and sadnesses that are the substance of life. The devil is in the details.
