Album Notes

Theo Massop is a west coast Canadian singer songwriter whose musical journey has taken him from church choirs to dance halls, night clubs, festivals and concert venues. His previous album "Voyager" gained him three charting singles in Canada, critical acclaim and international radio play.

Tom Harrison of the Vancouver Province newspaper said, "Massop is an able folk/pop writer. His songs have a contemporary polish and a measure of sophistication. He writes homilies with a rock edge whose wisdom occasionally hits the ground like a hundred pound rail."

Brian Hazelbower, CHLY radio programmer said, "There are ten solid rockin' tunes on Theo's CD 'Choices' and they all have something to say. I have dubbed it, thinkin' man's music."

Rick Salt, manager and chief engineer at Blue Truck Hotel studio said, " Theo's CD 'Choices' is one of the finest projects to come from this studio. Great songs and great performances."

Michael Baginski, reviewer for The Entertainer magazine said, "Massop's strengths lie in intelligent lyrics, catchy mid-tempo songs and ballads."

In the Victoria Times Colonist newspaper, John Hogbin wrote, "Massop has a pleasing voice and he takes the trouble to let the listener understand what he's singing."

I have been listening to Ted since he was in the J and T Combination back in the sixties. This is his tightest and best music so far. Every one needs to hear more new music from Ted!

Ten well crafted songs

Ten well crafted songs in the roots rock genre about the choices we have to make in life are penned down by Massop and recorded with the finest session players he could find. Theo Massop offers us delicate, but solid rocking mid-tempo tunes that are ready for us to explore and enjoy. The latter we truly did. “Choices” offers you catchy tunes that are easy recognized and has a hum along quality of far above 10! In a typical singer-songwriter style, Massop brings his country music with a series of well thought lyrics! “Full Circle” might sound a little depressive, but it’s the damn truth! Everything comes full circle sooner or later. Theo sings “Time Moves by to damn fast”! and I certainly agree with him. “Happy Man” is much more optimistic than “Full Circle”. In “Happy Man” Theo explains there is no greater joy, than bringing a smile to someone’s face! Try to be as optimistic as possible, cause it’s easy to find the dark side in everything! “Start a Revolution” is a worldwide appeal to change our way of live! Not by war or big protest, but by starting a personal revolution! As said before, his lyrics are well thought and raise more questions then they give answers, but the man certainly has a point on many facts! The 10 songs are all equally as good and very entertaining at first level! However don’t forget to dig up the other levels as well starting with the lyrics.
