If Mr. Bungle, Alice Cooper, George Clinton, Queens of the Stone Age and Primus had an orgy, which produced a baby - and they named it Devo............THE.PHAGE would be the umbilical chord.
A lot of THE.PHAGE's influences show through with out clinging to one influence in particular. Simplistic, catchy synth pop mixed with rich guitar tones that can be thick and sloppy at times and intricate and quirky at others. Nice fat nasty overdriven bass with a hint of the funk. Beautifully constructed drum fills (by percussionist "Benjamin Moore") are laced together to create an ever-growing pattern that's hard to get tired of. And, to top it all off, melodic Vocals with rich harmonies.
The three brothers of the band "Michael, Patrick and Timothy Kish" (guitar, bass, synth, vocals) switch up instruments and lead vocals to keep things interesting. Everyone writes for the band, which ends up making for a very eclectic sound.
THEPHAGE has been playing the Detroit circuit since 2002 at venues such as: The Shelter, Alvins, Lager House, Smalls, Belmont, The State Bar, Cork Town Tavern, The Old Miami and more.
"The Phage mixes great elements of Goth and alternative into a heavy/punk blender and come up with a wild sound that is very definitely their own. Then, when you’re not looking they hit you with a love of Funkadelic as well as Bauhaus. It’s a strange mixture, but its loud, heavy and different." (The Lager House, Detroit)

Well...

In a nutshell, its a very interesting album, but it needs a fair amount of production work. Actually, I couldn't think of a review that could be as far off as the write up. Overall, the feeling of the band is that of some some talented kids picked up instruments and started making great music. Haunting synth piled on with eclectic vocals and GREAT syncopated drums.... that is The.Phage. To put George Clinton and Alice Cooper into this category, well, its just not that representative. The sound is VERY Queens of the Stone Age and Mr. Bungle.
Anyway, if you like Sugar Tooth, then check out the album.
