Detroit, Michigan – Shadow Creek Entertainment is thrilled to announce the release of the debut EP from The Prime Eights, So You Say You Want an Evolution??, available everywhere on November 4th.
So You Say You Want An Evolution is a perfect fusion of hip hop, rock and jazz that combines all star caliber instrumentation with top notch lyricism. The Prime Eights have evolved from other notable Detroit acts like Abstrakt Intellekt, and The Christina Criss Band. A throwback to the “Golden Age” of hip hop, new school sensibility, and masterful music technique have positioned the Prime Eights the next logical evolution in entertainment.
The Prime Eights are a five piece band that includes two vocalists, guitar player, bass player, and drummer/sampler. Drawing on influences that vary from The Roots to Coltrane…the Prime Eights have that intangible that leaves a little something for everyone.
“An amazing display of lyricsm that competes with Grandma’s Grape Leaves” - Hush
The vocalists – Mike and John have had quite the storied local career, from originally signing to Mike E. Clark’s B4 Records in 2002 (as Abstrakt Intellekt), to multiple record contract scenarios, the Duo has shared the stage with such luminaries as Tech N9ne, Rob Base and Dz Ezrock, Ra the Rugged Man, Hush, Paradime, Trick Trick, and many, many others. Cody and brett have been studio and live support for many notable projects throughout Detroit for the past fifteen years.
“From the first listen, weeks ago the music has struck me as a finely tuned, artistic masterpiece. Real Grown Up Music” – Kevin Bora (Beats at Will Records)
The Prime Eights first video “Black Magic” was released in September to garner buzz for the new project, and the band has been promoting the release in such areas like The Zone radio 89.3 WHFR Radio, and television outlets like Metro Pro Wrestling (Comcast Cable).
The Prime Eights debut show was during the Gym Class Heroes Tour at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in October of 2011, and performed at their record release party November 4th at Simons in Allen Park, Michigan. 2012 will see the second video “Asterisk”, and tour dates are being booked now. So You Say You Want An Evolution also can be found on all digital distribution outlets like Napster, Rhapsody, Itunes, Spotify, and more. All Prime Eights merchandise is also available on www.shadowcreekentertainment.com
The Prime Eights are currently in a large scale promotional campaign presenting their project to every press and media outlet available.
The Prime Eights are the sixth release on Shadow Creek Entertainment, a hip hop label that has seen releases from artists like Abstrakt Intellekt, Cancer, and other underground artists.
“One of the freshest sounding projects I’ve heard in the last decade, the mix of live band and old school feel to the lyrics combine to give the Prime Eights a sound of their own.” –Will the Thrill (Editor: Dirtymitten dot com)
