"WIth Sirens like these singin' and all o' this piratical music in me ears - I'm in LOVE... and I think me swash just buckled!"
Mark Lewis, Emmy Award Winning Storyteller/Actor
"The Pyrettes' new album, Sea Fever, is a musical journey complete with Celtic stylings, Spanish love songs and even a didjeridoo thrown in for good measure. The common thread throughout the album is the nautical theme carried by these talented musicians and gifted vocalists. In fact, the wenches' harmony is so rapturous it would make the Syrens of old turn green with envy. Aye, truly Sea Fever could make me steer me ship toward the rocks - and never regret a moment o' it! Really, it's a beautiful collection!"
Cap'n Slappy, Co-Founder of International Talk LIke a Pirate Day / Author
"The fairer side of Bilgerats & Pyrettes have set sail on a ship of their own with this CD. Experience the adventure as these wenchsome rogues take to the high seas in search of ill-gotten booty and men that will serve under their flag. Commanded by Captain Margot, these sirens make music that re-invents the classic sea shanty with enticing twists of genre and bring brilliant harmony to the tales of a renegade life at sea. This album is a fantastic mix of Blues, Jazz, Celtic, Latin, and Scandinavian, with a surprise or two thrown in to keep you on your toes."
Luc the Lucky (aka Shuhe Hawkins) Co-Founder of The Portland Pirate Festival
Ahoy tharr! Margot La Méchante here (aka Kate Larsen), Captain of The Pyrettes and Margot Productions, sending my heartfelt thanks to the infamous Mark Lewis, Cap'n Slappy and Luc the Lucky, for their kind words about our music! The production of the 6th Annual Portland Pirate Festival and the recent purchase of The Royaliste (our very own tall ship brought across country to NW Waters) sidetracked plans to finally finish and release this CD over a year ago, but at last it's ready for your listening pleasure.
The BilgeRats & Pyrettes came out of what used to be the pirate band from the B.O.O.M. Pirates crew, as many members sought freedom to focus more on the musical side of piracy. You may already have our first CD, B.O.O.M. Pirates "Prepare to be Boarded", produced in 2008 by Margot Productions. If not, It's on sale now right here on CD Baby!
"Sea Fever" is our second album, and since it's "ladies first", the wenches have taken the helm as The Pyrettes, with more than a few forced men thrown in for good measure.
Margot La Mechante (aka Kate Larsen), Producer/Owner Margot Productions and Portland Pirate Festival
Band Leader of BilgeRats & Pyrettes
