Album Notes

The Rafters are an acoustic-pop-married duo (Dave and Miki), who have released their second CD "With the Sun". Recorded and mixed in their basement from Sept. 08 ~ June of '09 in-between the sounds of the furnace and the noise of life. Just days after the first tracks were recorded they would learn there would be another "little Rafter" on the way. Through a long and reflective pregnancy, 60 hour work weeks, the ice storm of '08, and trying to keep up with their two daughters, the final parts were completed the day before their son, Carter David, was born.

"With the Sun" is made up of 10 songs that focus on melody and lyrics over a blend of folk/pop influences. Themes range from fears for a brother going off to war in "Don't Lose Yourself", to dealing with a loved ones difficult medical news in "Hideaway", to learning the beauty of a growing family in "Amazing". Running through the Rafters music are the threads of hope, Miki sings: "Like a petal heavy from the rain, with the sun we rise again..."

"The Rafters songs are about real people and real things" Scott Alarik
"Beautiful harmony and production run through the CD" Ellen Schmidt
