Consisting of Devon Boyd on Guitar/Vocals , Keith Breedlove on the Upright Bass, and Steve Mad Dog Manson on Drums, The Refuzniks are a must-see show. Whether playing classic rockabilly events, satisfying the demanding tastes of Punk Rockers, causing havoc-filled Psychobilly wrecking pits, or playing for lovers of all things Rock ‘n Roll, The Refuzniks tear it up at every show they play.
Hailing ...from Modesto, California, The Refuzniks stand out as the Rock ‘n Roll ambassadors of their home town’s musical and cultural roots. The Northern California city of Modesto has impacted Rock ‘n Roll culture in big ways, including bringing the world the Maddox Brothers and Rose: who in the late 1940’s, took their wild form of boogie-woogie and hillbilly music to the next level, prompting the official rockabilly hall of fame to call it the “birth of Rockabilly.” Modesto also produced George Lucas, who breathed life into classic car culture through his 1973 hit film, American Graffiti. The film, set in Modesto, captured the spirit of cruising, hanging out with friends and listening to Rock ‘n Roll; sparking a revival of all things ‘50’s that lives on until this day.
Although a fixture of the area's rockabilly heritage, as their name suggests, however, The Refuzniks are mavericks. Never satisfied with the status quo, they have no sacred cows, no rules to follow and no limits. Two time recent winners of the Modesto Area Music Awards in both the Punk and Rockabilly categories, The Refuzniks take roots music and super-charge it, taking it to the next level. Each member of the band draws upon their personal musical inspirations, melding hardcore punk, blues, gospel, garage, outlaw country and ‘50’s rockabilly (probably didn’t get ‘em all) into a cohesive, unique sound that gets inside you, makes you move, and is absolutely addicting to the ears.
Known as a hard-working band, The Refuzniks keep a robust gig schedule, and leave it all on the stage at every show. They’ve shared the stage with artists such as The Chop Tops, Joe Buck Yourself, Devil’s Brigade (w/ Matt Freeman of Rancid), Roger Miret and the Disasters (frontman for Agnostic Front), and John Popper. With every blistering performance, The Refuzniks’ earn new fans. Check in often for show info, merch, and news; and let the band know what you think!
