Album Notes

In 1980, Mark Loder ran into an old acquaintance, Pepper Ripp, "and the rest is history". Pepper invited Mark to sit in at a local bar gig with "The Pepper and Bill Band" (Pepper on guitar and vocals, Bill Zabit, vocals and bass, and Bix Olstadt on drums). Mark soon joined the band.

Cut to 1995 after some time away from performing, Pepper called up and said "Hey, let's get some guys together and jam in my basement - just for fun". The Relics were born. Bill Zabit had moved to California by then, but Bix was rarin' to go. They needed a bass player so Mark called up Jon Standridge, his old sand box guitar pal from 1959! Adding Bob Weynand on keyboard, it didn't take too long for the Relics to bust out of the basement.

In 2007, the band still has its original members plus one new member:
• Joe “Pepper” Ripp (lead vocals, rhythm guitar)
• Bix Olstadt (lead vocals, drums, harmonica)
• Mark Loder (lead guitar, vocals)
• Jon Standridge (bass, vocals)
• Bob Weynand (keyboard, trumpet, vocals)
• Abigail Cantor (saxophone, clarinet)

The Relics’ name comes from the song, “Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger with the lyrics:
"Call me a relic, call me what you will;
Say I'm old-fashioned; say I'm over the hill;
Today's music ain't got the same soul;
I like that old time rock n roll."

REVIEWS

"Live at Tallard's Station"
author: Roger Carp
All the excitement and fun of classic rock 'n' roll comes to life on this CD by The Relics. They are terrific musicians and great singers who really know how to capture an audience. You'll feel all the excitement on this CD, with amazing performances of songs by Elvis, Dion, Big Joe Turner, Johnny Cash, the Beatles, and so many others. I've already worn out one CD and five pairs of dancing shoes. You'll do the same!
