Theressa Ruppert
Biography


Theressa Ruppert has been singing since the age of 3. Her career began in Winnsboro, Louisiana, where she sang in her local church and with her Mother, Sister and two Aunts in a Gospel band "The Louisiana Angel Band". They opened for such well known gospel acts as "The Hinsons", "The Singing Americans", "The Payne Family", and many more. She would record an original song on their first album produced by Ronnie Hinson of "The Hinsons" in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 17. Later in college in Monroe, Louisiana, she sang in a 100-member choir and traveled with "The Louisiana All-State Choir" for two years. After college she moved to South Haven, Michigan and began singing with a local cover band, Diamond and the Rough, where they performed at local festivals, parties and local bars. She sang with the cover band for 21/2 years before striking out on her own.

She has performed with well-known European blues artist, Jimmy Dillon, J.C. Hartsfield, a former Columbia Recording Artist, of the "Hartsfield" band from the 70's and also sang backup for well-known Elvis imitator "The Big E". She was privileged to perform at R&B Artist Heather Headley's wedding reception and sing a duet with Chuck Leavell from the Rolling Stones.

She has since formed her own band, writing and performing her own music. She released her first CD, called "Get On Board" early last spring to a sold out crowd of 300 people in her home town. In April of the same year she was given the opportunity to open for Lorrie Morgan and also later that summer "The Rockin Road House" tour at "Summer Jam 2002 in St. Joseph Michigan. Her CD is played regularly on Y97.5 radio station out of St. Joseph, Michigan.

This past November she entered and won the "Nashville Star" competition in Chicago and headed to Kansas City for the "Nashville Star" regional where she did not place but gained a chance to be seen by executives in the Country Music Industry.

On July 19th of this year she released her second CD "Dance of Life" to a crowd of over 300 people. She sold 200 copies of her CD in the first week out.

Theressa has opened for the legendary Leon Russell in Grand Rapids,Michigan and Country Music Star, Chris Cagle in St. Joseph, Michigan. In February, 2004 she appeared on Oprah's Pop Star Challenge as one of eight contestants out of 15,000 videos submitted.

Most recently, Theressa was given the honored opportunity to perform at the CMA Festival (formerly known as FanFare)on the same stage as some of Country Music's biggest legends at the Ryman Auditorium.

Her songwriting has been called a unique blend of country and blues and her voice a "booming gospel-stirring sound".
