Album Notes

The Ring was formed in 1989 by Pianist & Keyboardist - Chris Spriggle and Guitarist - Tim Urfer as a progressive rock band. Bassist - Rob Fordyce came in shortly after and the first incarnation of The Ring enjoyed many local SF Bay Area gigs, a small tour, radio play and put out a CD in 1991 also titled The Ring. However shortly after this release, The Ring dis-banded so members could pursue other interests.
The original linup included: Doug Boggs - Vocals & Percussion, Rob Fordyce - Bass & vocals, Devin Russell - Drums & Percussion, Chris Spriggle - Piano,Keys & vocals, Tim Urfer - Guitars.

The Ring decided to re-group and change it's musical direction to Instrumental Jazz Fusion in 1992. When re-forming, The Ring replaced original drummer Devin Russell with Brad McKeague.

This new version of The Ring spent several years playing small club gigs honing the new genre direction and produced this EPCD, which was made between 1995 - 1997.

The Ring is currently working on a full length CD which is due sometime in 2005.

This music is mind eroticism that enfolds you with every vibrating beat and every touched and stroked note that caresses your mind to open to pleasures that extinguishes all unrelenting reality as you know it. Its depths and multihued visions take you on a ride that slips past self entombed barriers and lets you fly free. Apollo

Amazing, tasteful, high-energy Jazz/Rock/Funk fusion.

This is a must-have CD for fans of jazz-fusion. Excellent compositions, great players. These guys can put on a monster groove, they can really swing, and they make it work together in the same composition. Fans the Chick Corea's Electrik Band, Dave Weckl band, etc. will love this CD.

Amazing virtuosity. Great chops combined with sublime taste.
author: Michael Gill
These guys are the bomb. The delicacy of their interplay merges with their most notable chops to create a great album. Unlike a lot of fusion/prog recordings where everyone plows forward full steam, it's really apparent that these cats LISTEN to each other. Parts compliment and support each other and there is clearly room for us listeners to share in the experience. I can't wait for the next CD!
