Album Notes

The Russians began as a recording project by Scott Janovitz, who has also played with Garvy J (ex-Elevator Drops, The Rentals), The Figgs, and is a member of Graham Parker's band, The Latest Clowns. Janovitz (younger brother to Buffalo Tom's Bill Janovitz) spent a couple of years working on The Russians' first recordings at his Moontower Studio in Cambridge MA before finally putting together a band of friends and local luminaries from the Boston rock scene. The Russians released a limited edition EP and a tour with Tommy Stinson and The Figgs followed.

The Russians continued to develop in the studio, with influences ranging from Phil Spector, McCartney and Pink Floyd, to Beachwood Sparks, Teenage Fanclub and The Flaming Lips. In October of 2007, the band released EP.02 - a short collection of ethereal and addictive songs that float into each other as one seamless, multi-layered piece.
