It's in the sun-warmed city of Austin, Texas that The Story Of creates their energetic brand of uplifting songs. They call it 'panoramic music' and it boasts a wall of eclectic melodies and instrumentation. The band employs the sounds of everything from pianos and vibraphones, to child choirs and synthesizers. The staple behind their sound, however, is a rock guitar and a moving lyric. Although The Story Of has gained a reputation for their captivating performances and inventive live show designs, much of the band's vitality can be heard in their independent and self-produced recordings. Their recent release, a full-length album titled, "The World's Affair" (Leroy Godspeed), demonstrates their whimsical writing style of lush dream-rock.
The five members of 'The Story Of' are all natives to the Appalachia region and originally formed in Athens, Ohio five winters ago. It wasn't until 2004 that they decided to leave the foothills of Americana and move their collective southwest to Austin. The band still pulls inspiration from their northern roots and you can hear this influence laced in their song writing. 'The Story Of' is currently supporting their fifth studio release "The World's Affair".
