The Strand: Arizona Industrial Music
Pounding electronic beats and riff-driven synth lines dominated by the vocals of Dave Strand and Kimberly Brown make up Arizona based band The Strand.
The Strand's self-produced debut CD, "In the Trench", received much acclaim with promoters, journalists and DJ's alike. Thanks to a massive CD promotion effort, The Strand gets air play in clubs worldwide and has appeared in a variety of magazines and websites. The band has been featured on four nationally-distributed compilations and is on the soundtrack of several films, including "Liberata' Me" and "Synthetic Truth".
The Strand has launched from being a small home-based production into an increasingly visible musical entity, known to the ears and eyes of industrial fans across the globe.
Their latest endeavor is the production of their much anticipated CD, entitled "DIATOM". A full-length album's worth of unreleased tracks will fill the disc. A second release will be stocked with remixes of Strand songs by some well known national acts. The Strand has been nominated for "Best Electronic Band" by AIMS in 2003
The Strand does not take the conventional techno approach when bringing the music to a live scenario. Instead, a majority of the music is performed live, with a drummer, four keyboardists and two vocalists. If you have not seen a live performance by The Strand, it is DEFINITELY something to experience.
Diatom has been critically acclaimed. Please cut and paste this link to read the review:

For sure the strand is a very great band. Their music styles rival that of funkervogt, although im sure they have heard that enough by now. They truly do sound alot like funkervogt, but yet they have their own style that goes well with the music still. Their lyrics are well thought out, and so is the composition; they seem to run paralelle to make a greater listening experiance. People always say how industrial music will be the music of the future.. well the future is now, and The strand will be one of the defineing bands of future music. Theres only one thing that kept me alittle unsetteled about this band. They dont look a thing how i expected them too.. but perhaps this is a good thing, the way i pictured them was stereotypical of gothic/industrial performers, and lets face it, the last thing we need is more mainstream in the music industry. Good job on the album guys and gal, it was really great! keep it up, im definetly looking forward to more albums.

Would be ENVOIUS! they are one of the biggest names in industrial, and this band, in my oppinion, has far surpassed them in skills, as well in music quality. The fact that the do not use conventional means to show off their music is the biggest variable that draws me to this band. The fact that they play with 4 keyboardists, instead of 1 that uses a repeat function, i find that respectable, and awesome. Good job the strand, you made a new fan i can assure you that!

if i could have given this thing 6 stars, i would have. almost every single track is memorable, the lyrics are witty, the sound is infectious. you may, like me, dislike the singer's scratchy voice at first listen--but it is worth giving a second chance as it captures their sound most appropriately. there's much appreciated equal parts of angry screaming, addictive dance beats, and all around amazing industrial sound. don't miss!
