Album Notes

Pan: Music for Folks with Long Ears

Pan, a lowly beast of a god brought music to the hunters of the forest and to the workers of the field.
Apollo’s music descended from Olympus, though beautiful, it is a bit too lofty for some. There are those who like their music hairier, lower to the ground and coarser in flavor.
It is said that Apollo and Pan met in a wooded glen one day for a musical duel. Pan played first, then Apollo. All creatures of the forest were moved by their performance. Trees swayed to the music. The rivers stopped moving in order to hear them better. But in the end everyone agreed that Apollo had won. All but one, King Midas, a man who once worshipped gold, but now rejected all wealth, blindly following Pan through the woods dressed like a beggar. He found Apollo’s music plucked from a lyre to be too precious. Apollo was enraged by Midas’ obstinacy and in a fit of rage caused his ears to grow long and pointy, like a donkey's.

The Tentacles are back with their fourth album. We have a new member in the fold, Jeff Robert, whose piano adds a new element of energy and complexity to our music. Now there are 4 members with 8 arms playing 14 songs. Let your ears grow long…
