Album Notes

The genre-blurring follow-up to The Ums remarkable self-released debut "Give Me Pause," "Men of Science" is The Ums' debut release on Cloud 13 Records. "Men of Science" explores the unlikely but irresistible intersection of indie rock, soul, geek-rock, and British-invasion era psychedelia, fleshing out hook-laden pop songs with expertly-orchestrated string arrangements, organs and multi-part harmonies. Like the bastard love-child of John Lennon and John Linnell, the tracks on "Men of Science" combine influences as diverse as Bill Withers, They Might Be Giants, and The Beatles to arrive at an exuberant, hazy blurring of musical boundaries that achieves a perfect balance of playfulness and depth. Co-produced by The Ums and veteran Atlanta independent producer Tim DeLaney.
