ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Rush the Growler", the second release from the Ventucky String Band on Philville Records features their newest member, Mark Parson (of Whiskey Chimp) on fiddle and guitar.

The album is a mix of originals written by founding member Matt Sayles & new member Mark Parson, and also includes tasteful covers of some of the band's favorite classic country, Texas Swing, & bluegrass tunes.

The album was recorded live in real-time, with overdubs only on select vocal harmony tracks and harmonica parts--what you hear are four musicians playing live in a cabin--including lead vocals and lead breaks--the way this music was intended to be heard!

"Take me Back to Tortilla Flats", "I like my Chicken Frying Size", "Sick Sober and Sorry", and "Song for life" were all recorded in one take!
