Album Notes

Thin Acid Angel was formed in 2000 out of late-night sessions at the legendary Coast Recorders in San Francisco.

Between guitarist Loren Routh and singer Minor Gray the two fused a sound that was both ferocious and moody. After playing with a number of other musicians in the Bay Area clubs, they hit the perfect combination with the addition of bassist Dainzo and drummer Beerwolf.

Old school elements of Judas Priest, UFO and Thin Lizzy can be heard in the band's progressive backdrop - as well as fringed punk style of The Damned. Monster riffs and a driving rhythm lay the foundation for lyrical storytelling.

TAA's live shows are straight-up hard rock, with tight arrangements and an unpredictable stage show.

REVIEWS

from vigorous social condemnation to heartbreak
author: Seth Emmons - Rolling Scone
Thin Acid Angel’s sophmore album, “Underneath 6th Street,” opens up with the energy of a subway bursting out of the ground on a collision course with the moon. Somehow, lead singer Minor Gray’s lyrics fuse images of Earth, Hell, and the wide galaxy seamlessly and simultaneously in the band’s double-shot of an opener, “Devil’s Ride.” And the ride continues... The first listen through primes you for TAA’s stylistic vocabulary. They run the gamut, from vigorous social condemnation to heartbreak, love lost to fist-pumping sing-a-long and closes with the ballad, “First Day of Winter,” a reduced pace sobriety-returning unwind after a solid rollercoaster caper. And all without losing a drop of the rock ‘n roll sweat that soaks the entire album. “Underneath 6th Street” is a mature second album, thanks to its strong and clear poetic lyrics from a powerful vocalist the sometimes stage-stealing instrumental intelligence, and really impressive production. From beginning to end, each track seems inspired by nothing less than an all-band road trip, starting with a Death Valley desert convertible speed-cruise and ending on a cliff, throwing rocks in the ocean.
