Album Notes

An outstanding live concert of the Thomas Blug Band recorded at the "guitar from the hear tour" in 2003. Thomas, awarded "best german rock/pop guitarist" and "Stratplayer of the year 2004", put his band together featuring some of Europes finest instrumentalists:
Legend Thijs van Leer (...the man behind focus) on Hammond B3 and flute is giving an awesome performance contributing unheared colors to Thomas´greatest instrumentals. Raoul Walton on bass and Wolf Simon on drums, both playing on his studio albums, realy make you move! Bernie Wittmann on Rhodes and electronic keys creates an atmosphere that lets Thomas´guitar even fly higher!

Addicting

Discovered Thomas Blug listening to a college radio station (William Paterson University, NJ) while driving in my car. This CD rocks, grooves, funks, pops, and never sizzles out. Every track is a winner, and Mr. Blug's melodies are incredibly emotional and addictive. No vocals are necessary, as Mr. Blug's guitar sings. This is definitely one of the best live recordings around, and he is definitely one of the best guitar players around period. And, the rest of his band is also quite talented.

Tonemaster revealed!
author: Frank Teger
I was introduced to Thomas Blug through Myspace and quickly had to find out how I could purchase his music. Of course I went to CDBABY and purchased his 2 CD's I also contacted Thomas through his website and was able to purchase his 2 other CD's "21st Century Guitar" and "The Beauty of Simplicity". After going through his Studio releases I then listened to this live CD. Live in Raalte, NL captures the essence of Thomas's spirit, style and tone. In this recording you will hear the many influences that are a part of Thomas's style, like Jeff Beck, David Gilmore and Eric Johnson. My first thought when I heard Thomas was Michael Landau. Thomas Blug is another one of those guys who is searching for "The Tone"! You could say Satch and Vai might be in his mix, but he's more of a STRAT tone guy than a Ibanez/Humbucker/Floyd Rose axeslinger. Another aspect of this recording that was refreshing for an instrumental guitar release is the rhythm section behind Thomas. The band is tight, complex and steady which allows Thomas to venture out in his melodies, but still within the groove that is being laid down. Check out this CD and all of Thomas Blug's releases, you won't be disappointed!!!
