Album Notes

A native of the Big Apple, Thomas Dickerson was influenced by music early in life. From humming along with his parents’ record collection at age three to playing radio songs by ear on the keyboard he received at age nine; Thomas’s passion for music continued to grow. His six years of classical music training won him several State Piano competitions in South Carolina. Desiring to use his talent for God, at 16 Thomas taught himself to play guitar and began to lead church worship in the Atlanta area.
In 1998, while serving as a Senior High worship pastor, Thomas and his band toured Europe. For two years, beginning in 2001, he served as Adult worship leader for his home church of 5,000 members. This period marked the beginning of his Christian songwriting.
In 2003, Thomas helped start a church in an Atlanta suburb. While serving as youth pastor and worship leader, he discovered that his real journey with Jesus was just beginning. With a good grasp of the Bible, God, and ministry, this veteran of “the church world” began to feel that something was missing in his life. Though he seemed happy being married and serving as a full-time minister in a perfect little world, it took an unforgettable, personal encounter with the Lord Jesus to change the course of his life forever!
Since 2004, God had given Thomas songs about His incredible love for mankind and the personal relationship He desires with every person He has created. In early 2006, Thomas signed with Greenville-based OMG Records fulfilling his long-hoped-for offer to sign a recording contract; however, in spite of all that was going his way, Thomas still felt that something was missing.
On the evening of March 31, 2006, someone in Greenville asked Thomas why he was recording the album. Instead of a polite, rehearsed response he realized deep down inside that he had no idea! It was on that night on his way back to Atlanta that Thomas encountered Jesus! He suddenly realized that though he claimed to be a Christian, if he were to die, he could offer Jesus no account for his life. In the car, he asked Jesus if he had ever been born again as described in John Chapter 3. The answer was a definite, “No”. Thomas then knew that he had never met Jesus personally. He had never been born again. He did not have the Holy Spirit inside.
After 26 years of church attendance, including eight years of full-time ministry, Thomas knew that he had met the Lord Jesus for the very first time. Thomas received the Holy Spirit, and he now has the assurance that he will be with Jesus in heaven forever. He testifies to two specific things he heard from God that night:

“Thomas, there is no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus. Now go and declare my NAME to the nations!”

This album reflects the incredible change in Thomas Dickerson’s surrendered life. After receiving the Good News that Jesus is alive and that He gave His life for the sins of every single person in the world, Thomas committed himself to share this message with as many people as possible through his music and testimony. He resides in Atlanta with his wife Jeanna. For Thomas, the journey with God and the personal walk with Jesus have just begun. To God be the Glory!

Best CD I've heard in the last year

I bought this CD without knowing much about Thomas or his music (he was singing at my church – and I purchased as a donation). Have you every reached into a pocket not expecting much and found a $20 bill. This was what this was like – I put it in the CD player in my car expecting to scan through a couple of songs and then turn on the radio. Well – I did not turn on the radio in the car for about a week. There is not one bad song on the disc. The writing, production, and singing are excellent. Perfect Love could and should be a hit song. You will find yourself singing Don’t Be Fooled to yourself long after you’ve heard it, it’s just that good. Buy this CD – you will not regret it!! ( BTW – the message is good as well)

Buy it, you won't regret it.

I met Thomas at a church in Stone Mountain (www.mountainwestchurch.com) and loved his worship leading. To be completely honest, I bought his CD more as a "donation" to his ministry than as a purchase I thought I would continually enjoy....but man-o-man was I surprised. The first track (Perfect Love) blew me away. I probably repeated it several times even before I went onto the rest of the CD. This song alone should have sent Thomas soaring through the charts....the only thing I can figure is that the record label didn't promote it correctly, because it is definitely Top 20 worthy. The rest of the CD won't disappoint either. "Calling all the Nations" is another specific favorite of mine…A timely message in a powerful arrangement. The ballad "Don't be Fooled" will keep you humming the tune all day long after your listen. Do yourself a favor and get this CD -- you won't be disappointed.

Wow! Contemporary Christian that's actually good!

So much of today's worship music is frankly boring. This CD is personal, joyful, and highly musical. Thomas is a great singer-songwriter, and his faith is real. Some of the tracks on this album strike me as Beatle-esque. "His Love is All You Need" is the standout. Impeccably produced, with a killer gospel choir and a delightful children's choir as well. Something else I love about Thomas is that he's not afraid to end a song when it needs to be ended. Far too much Contemporary Christian music suffers from "repeat chorus ad nauseum" syndrome. Some of the tracks here are sub 3 min, others approach 5+. Finally, Christian music that doesn't insult your musical intelligence.
