Album Notes

Joshua Thompson has expressed his passion for music since he was a child. From singing in the choir, to playing the drums and piano, to finding his love for the saxophone, Joshua Thompson has been a continuous vessel for the Lord. And it is because of this that he always keeps the Lord first in his life. He acknowledges him as the Great Musician, and gives him all the honor and glory for the many blessings that he has bestowed upon him. Not only is Joshua a musician, but he is a singer and composer. Joshua is now an 18 year old musician who over the years has become one of the most sought out musicians in the Antelope Valley. And it is through the gift of music that Joshua has strengthened his relationship with the Lord and found his true calling. Joshua has shared the stage with many local jazz groups and had the opportunity to be under the direction and teaching of many great musicians most of which he recognizes as his heroes and inspirations. Joshua also has his own jazz group by the name of "N The Groove" who he travels and plays with. Some of these members are featured on his current album "In The Spirit". He is also credited by his church leaders, friends, family, teachers, and fellow musicians. Joshua Thompson has a love for jazz and gospel music that he knows can never be seperated. His album "In the Spirit" is an audible and visual symbol of not only his passion for music, but the impact that God has had on his young life, and the connection that he establishes with God every time he picks up his horn. Josh now attends Cal State University Northridge and is currently double majoring in Music Industry and Pan-African Studies. He is under the direction of world renowed bassist Gary Pratt, saxophonist Rob Lockhart, and his long-time mentor Ronnie Crumbly. Joshua currently plays and records in the Antelope Valley and Los Angeles area. He aims to pursue a career as a professional jazz musician, touring, recording, writing, and producing music.
