"Thoth Speaks" is the second CD by Pittsburgh's Thoth Trio. We refer to the music as "intense acoustic jazz" for lack of a better term. Thoth Trio is Ben Opie on saxophones and clarinet, Paul Thompson on bass, and David Throckmorton on drums. Ben has a long history in the Pittsburgh creative music community, with groups such as Water Shed 5tet and Morphic Resonance. Paul and David have a long history together, including several years as the rhythm section for the Maynard Ferguson Bebop Nouveau Big Band.
Our first CD, "Apropos of Nothing" was well received, including comments such as "an audacious debut" and "These players sound like they're having fun with the material." "Thoth Speaks" ramps up the dynamics, with ten original compositions. Test drive the samples and see if you don't agree.
