I have spent my life listerning to all kinds of "American Music". It is sort of like doing archeology in the years following WW2. I found these forgotten gems and wanted to show them to the world.

Album Notes

Imagine the voice of Marianne Faithfull - rinsed in whiskey, toasted in smoke - encased in the body of a big, rangy guy with a salt and pepper beard. Bart Thrall is that guy, and his pipes have been around the block at least five times, so that when they whisper or croak or sweetly croon they express something as old as dirt as real and ineluctable as hurt. He inhabits these songs the way a blind man inhabits a small cozy room; he knows every crevice, every crimp, and every hole in the music. He conveys that intimacy to the listener without any fuss. Yes, the heartache is gonna come, and when it does, you won't believe how sweetly he can sing of it.
- Mikhail Horowitz

My thanks go out to all the people who played on this CD. I couldn't have done it without them. Thanks to Big Time Records and their A /R man, Jerry Pigowski, for their support. Besides them, there was always the presence of Robert Bard with his suggestions, patience and experience to guide me. Not playing on these cuts is Don Haynie, whom I wish to thank for his advice.
Are you ready?

REVIEWS

It's R&B with a country feel

I like the CD, but then I'm the guy who made it, so you can take this with a grain of salt. My favorites, after all this time, are Long Distance Love, Trapped and B_A_B_Y. A close second is Gee Baby, Ain't I Good to You and Hurt Falls.
