Album Notes

With a combined vision, to educate and entertain, Through The Roots, was formed in the spring in 2008. Members of the band Evan Hawkins (vocals/guitar), Taylor Boatwright (drums), Bryan Jackson (bass), Brady O’rear (rhythm keys), and Chris Cruz (lead guitar), combine their musical talent and experience to create an innovative sound that is truly satisfying. Whether it may be their uplifting lyrics or catchy melodies, these guys know how to entertain a group of listeners of any size! Through school and friends the guys met one after another as a sign of fate and have been jamming consistently ever since.
They played their first show after only two months of practicing together, and have played hundreds of shows since then, up and down the coast of California. From San Diego To Chico California, and through out parts of Arizona they have rocked crowd’s in the thousands. With hopes of retaining a record label and goals to record their full length album.
Through the Roots has big plans for 2009. After just finishing their first six song EP, TTR’s management is working diligently to fill their calendar from January until their tour in the summer of 2009. Through the Roots has shared the stage with bands such as, The Liberation Posse, Natural Incense, Rebelution, and Black Uhuru. Their main influences Steel Pulse, UB40, Eeka Mouse, and Sublime have helped to mold and shape TTR into the band it is.
Upcoming events include The Human Rights Festival at San Diego State, playing with The Pack in Tucson , and jamming for the famous Cannon Ball Run in Chico, CA. TTR is working closely with the CEA Foundation in a persistent effort to educate about the dangers of drunk driving and to promote the idea or making good choices and living a respectable, long, and happy life. Life is short and there is no time to waste, the music of Through the Roots is able to accomplish getting this message to people through their satisfying tunes.

Best Reggae Band of Our Time
author: Courtney Kluth
Through the Roots not only promotes great music and vibrations, but they play to inspire both the young and old. Each of their songs has so much importance to the lyrics that are sung that it is easy for the listener to connect the music to their owns lives. Through the Roots has the ability to uplift the soul and provide a sense of hope for those feeling down or lost. Each of the members have their own style which makes for a great sound. Through the Roots ability to bring rock to reggae sets them on top above many other competitive bands. There is clearly a lot of talent between the group. Not only does TTR have phenomenal sound and fantastic lyrics, they also are great in a live setting. Evan, the lead singer, puts so much energy behind his songs and really connects with the fans to ensure they have a great time. The entire band shows their love of music on stage. Overall, Through the Roots music has made a great impact on the way I live and has taught me that music is a common likeness shared by all that brings us all together to be one! Great album!!!
