Album Notes

in 2006 Bill Thurman decided to record a CD of old fiddle tunes with his students (the friends) in order to give them a taste of the real world and show them what it is like to prepare and then go into a real life professional
recording studio and do your best. some looked forward to it and two or three were terrified. they were on several different skill and experience levels. for the most part they sound like students. however they all rose to the occasion and did an admirably good job.
Tim Crouch an all round multi-instrumental musician
and string music professional from Arkansas provided the backup rhythm using mandolin, several guitars, string bass,
some excellent fiddle of his own, and percussion. we could not have found a better player and real pro if we had searched the entire country.
on La Rotta, Bill also played the oud, the whistle and tambourine giving that piece a distinct Renaissance by
way of middle eastern feel.
the entire recording mastering and packaging process
was done at Raney Recording Studio in Drasco, AR.

Fiddlin' for fun
author: Margot Cameron
This albumn is indeed FUN. Bravo to this group of brave individuals. What shines through is the fun and teamwork that makes the music sing. What is missing in skill is grealy overcome by hearts and joy. I could see the smiles on their faces at the end of each piece!
