Edward Thurstons' Soundtrack of Life is a R&B/Jazz/Dance Groove CD that is full of great songs by this up and coming composer.
Emulating the retro sound of the 70's updated for the 21st Century, every song has overtones of love, strength and courage. This CD is for people who really like feel good music.
The CD starts off with the anthem "New Day". With it's mellow funk groove and neo-gospel like arrangement, the tune is a winner. The CD also features the funk/acid jazz dance tune "Age of Aquarius" , the mellow groove of "Love Comes Shining Through" and the pop song about a low income couples' love for each other, "Wanna Be With You".
The hidden gem on the CD is "The Lost Children" which Thurston sings about children being abducted from their families. You would expect your normal arrangement for a song of this nature but Thurston employs a hip-hop beat, story-telling lyrics and a Native American percussive break to bring the point on home. It's a song you can dance to and get moved to do something about abducted children.
The interludes "Chakra Melody", "Closer To Home" and the instrumental, "Tabla Song" which features Thurston playing an African Xylophone, moves the CD along within it's concept.
Edward Thurstons Soundtrack of Life is full of memorable retro grooves and messages.

Great CD

Tghis is a timely CD and the grooves are great with spiritual messages. Real positive without preaching or being "religious!"

Really Different
author: Janice R. (New York)
If you're wondering where spiritual soul went, look no further than this album. Can't understand why this album isn't getting major airplay throughout the United States (I guess it has to do with spiritual messages in a society that doesn't really care about their spiritual existence and plus, it doesn't fit the format of a Gospel music station).
I really like the song, Love Comes Shining Through. It reminds me of something that Frankie Beverly and Maze would write but with an adult contemporary feel. I like the voice because it's different (maybe it has something to do with him being from the islands). I heard that Another Life was written for the people who died in the 9/11 attacks and it's a good song for people struggling with the lost of a loved one. This guy writes solid stuff. Something that is missing in Gospel and R&B.

reminds me of how soul music and albums use to be. good concept. the funk and rythymns are great especially the funk on age of aquarius...this brotha is going to be a great asset to the music industry. thanks for the bringing the funk even when it comes to social issues.

cool and interesting
author: rob mac (georgia)
this cd is pretty cool, straightforward and honest about spirituality in all things. i like love comes shining through. the shame of it is that you can't get this type of artist played on radio so you have to find in the indie circle.
i really like this cat and he's going places. my kid even likes the CD and that's saying a lot!
