Album Notes
"Thursty the Elephant", IT'S TIME TO READ! (YOUR CHILD'S FIRST CD). The warm, lovable Thursty character musically relates the importance of Learning to Read, as well as Learning the Alphabet, Counting, Spelling and Parts of Speech, and Phonics. Thursty even teaches LIFE LESSONS on Being Responsible, Paying Attention, Family Love, Awareness, Self-Confidence, and Self-Love. Wholesome, educational entertainment for the entire family to learn from and enjoy!

Former Motown executive Jonathan Clark discovered a
unique, innovative way to tap into young minds through
music. He observed children listen to and memorize lyrics
of adult songs, regardless of its often inappropriate content. So he thought, "Why not pair Hip-Hop/R&B music with positive, educational lyrics?" Enlisting the help of veteran singer/songwriter and longtime friend Thurston Bilal, together they became Teach 1 Entertainment, and the "Thursty the Elephant" character was born.

With additional help from Communications students at
Huston-Tillotson College, Thursty's informative,
inspirational messages were introduced to the Austin
Texas area, and the IT'S TIME TO READ! project was launched.

I am in love with this CD.
This CD is a powerful learning tool for children. I am not ashamed to say that as a grown man, I have had this CD in regular rotation myself. It's very catchy and full of useful substance and life lessons for children AND adults!

This is great!!! well put together and colorful. The book is refreshing, with the R&B, and hiphop that the children and adults will enjoy. I'm going to order the book for my nephew. I'm very proud of you all, keep up the good work, may God bless your storybooks!!! Proud to be Black.......

If there is ONE word that best describes the quality of these learning materials, that would have to be "timeless". Not only did my children use these songs to aid in them in their educational development, and they are now teenagers, but they also pass it on to parents of kids the babysit and parents of their friends as well.

Hello all!
I had to share this little bit of success with you.  Each morning, I tutor several fifth graders who are behind in language arts skills.  One day last week, their teacher gave me some worksheets on nouns and asked the kids if they knew what nouns were.  I wish you could have seen this- a written description doesn’t do it justice.  The kids, as if rehearsed, all starting singing “A noun is a person, place or thing…….”- it was perfect.  Of course, the teacher was shocked- not knowing that we sing along with Thursty in my classes.  So, there you go- it works!
Hope everything is going well for you all!

The Penn Family

"Thursty":Thank you for your creativity in educating children.
. Our daugther, Bria, received the CD as a gift from her Uncle Barry J. W. "The Shepherd" Franklin. She loves it and plays it where ever she goes. Her dad and I love it as well. It's the only CD that she gets to listen to while we are traveling in the car as a family because we enjoy it as well. She knows all the songs and can request them by number. She has to listen to her other CD's on her private headset while in the car. We love it so much that we have given it as a gift to our friend's children.

Wishing you continued blessings in your endeavors,
The Penn Family
