The Italian acoustic guitarist Luca Calore and the sound engineer Mattia Berti joined their forces to produce the TIHAI project, a musical challenge which aim is to explore and develop, through the infinite possibilities given by the interaction with Indian Classical Music, a new world of colors and sounds.
Born from the experience of three years during which Luca Calore has traveled India, explored his music and culture and met such great maestros like Ustad Zakir Hussain and Trilok Gurtu, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. the Project has encountered a lot of enthusiastic appreciations, both from Eastern and Western audiences and musicians.
THE BET, recorded in Benares, one of the most fascinating and ancient city in the world, is the first landmark of this walk.
It features a sparkling interaction between guitar, sitar and tabla.
Performed with a prototype Guitar which has a longer neck, a scalloped fretboard and twelve sympathetic strings passing through the body, The Bet is produced with a big effort to keep both an eye on respecting the millenary musical culture of India and, to the other side, to introduce to western audiences the beauty and power of Indian Classical Music, so ancient and so modern at the same time.
Today the Tihai project is proud to have in his ensamble great artists like
Rupak Kulkarni (bansuri) and Aditya Kalianpur (tabla), two of today's best Indian Classical artists.
We are currently setting up the production of TIHAI's next release.
